Friendship Garden

View of Kane’ohe Bay from Trail Loop

Friendship Garden is a cute little Garden tucked back off of Kokokahi Place in Kane’ohe. TheGarden was created in the 1920s by Rev. Theodore Richards an his wife Mary. It was Hawai’i's first multi-racial community. Kokokahi means “of one blood”. Neighborhood volunteers maintain the garden today. Check out their website, http://www.friendshipgarden.org/

The garden has a modest .6 mile trail loop which opens to a beautiful view of Kane’ohe Bay. This hike is perfect for toddlers and children. Short and sweet. There is enough uphill climb to get them tired out and enough flat hiking to keep them going. Oh and dogs are welcome too.

The trail is lined with Strawberry Guava and Yellow Guava and extensive Banyon root networks. We have added this hike to our quick workout hikes. It is close to home and short enought to get in and out with out spending hours on the trail. If walking at a brisk pace, the climb will get your heart pumping.
